LE PARCOURS

To celebrate Le Tour coming to Yorkshire in 2013, Steve Dearden and Shane Rhodes went on a jaunt from a back door near Ilkley to a front door in Hull.

Bike Hub suggested going round Leeds to the north through Alwoodley to Sherburn in Elmet and beyond through Selby and Howden. But we headed straight for lunch in the centre of Leeds and then out along the canal towards Goole and the Humber.  We liked the idea of following the water.  Water generally flows downhill. We were delighted to confirm this is true.

The route for our next jaunt is still being decided.  Shane has moved from Hull to East Yorkshire, Steve from Ilkley to Manchester, so the next route will be different with some of those awkward things called Pennines in between.  So, we are sifting through the glossy brochures, reviewing the heart-stirring videos and testing the economic impact claims of the competing hosts. But don’t worry, it will be announced here first.
